Hello!

Phoebe Allen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Trauma Therapist at Sustainable Wellness. She received her Masters degree from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work in 2016.

As a body/brain-based trauma therapist, Phoebe takes an emergent approach to treating trauma, both historic and intergenerational as well as persistent personal trauma. She approaches her work with clients using knowledge of how our experiences today are inextricably linked to ancestral trauma, resilience, and cultural/economic value systems. Without examination of how colonialism, white supremacy, capitalism and heteropatriarchy has impacted you, your family and lineage, we often feel the degradation of value is personal. It is not.

No matter what side of power and privilege you fall on, you have been impacted by these value structures. These oppressive structures have served to separate and disempower most while stroking fear, isolation, perfectionism, anti-social behaviors and a never-ending sense of urgency. When examining these dimensions, we can better contextualize trauma, while depersonalizing and metabolizing the pain it has caused.

With modern neuroscience offering new insights, tools and “toys” to understand stress, trauma, and attachment, Phoebe uses a multitude of effective, evidence-based interventions to help clients develop a deeper level of awareness in the body, access the body’s wisdom, embody confidence, and ultimately establish clarity of who they truly are and what they truly want.

Phoebe specializes in using Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal & Somatic techniques, Brainspotting and memory reprocessing with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help clients achieve connection to self. She works closely with her clients to develop a therapeutic container to identify and reorganize patterns or “conditioned tendencies” that no longer serve them. She works closely to help clients building feelings of safety, belonging or dignity that has been previously threatened. While this may have resulted in feeling fragmented, Phoebe helps clients cultivate a sense of wholeness by looking deeper into their purpose, wounds and stories.

Phoebe offers extended sessions or “intensives” for deeper brain processing to let clients complete large swaths of traumatic information. She collaborates with Journey Clinical to help clients access Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) using low- or high-dose ketamine models that support treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, OCD and/or self hate.
