Hello!

Natasha Dezonie is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of New York. She is also a Ph.D. student in social work research at Adelphi University. Natasha has a passion for working with teens and families, and currently conducts individual, group, and family therapy virtually at Sustainable Wellness.

Natasha has been working with families and at-risk youth since the age of 17. Throughout this time, she has worked in various mental health settings in New York and Africa with individuals living with physical and severe mental health conditions. Natasha often found that her clients’ symptoms were due to adverse childhood experiences.

As a sexual trauma survivor, Natasha has often found herself frustrated by the limitations and symptoms-focused treatment of traditional psychotherapy and the social service fields. Wanting more for her clients – and for herself – she began a self-healing journey where she discovered ancient holistic medicine. As a result, Natasha became a Holistic Health Practitioner, an approach that considers the whole person, rather than focusing on specific illnesses, body parts, or symptoms.

Today, Natasha combines ancient holistic practices with trauma-informed, evidence-based practices to combat the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on psychological and physical health and overall wellbeing. She has psychotherapy experience working with teens and adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety disorders, complicated grief, eating disorders, PTSD, C-PTSD, bipolar, substance abuse disorders, and holistic weight issues.

Natasha’s treatment modalities include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, polyvagal-informed therapy; play therapy; Internal Family Systems; motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based stress reduction, narrative therapy, a psycho-spiritual approach, and the five

elements of healing.

Natasha solo-traveled in Africa for two years during the pandemic and now
lives in Brooklyn, New York. She is passionate about the performing arts, traveling, storytelling, neuroscience, and Korean dramas.
