About us

Sustainable Wellness is a trauma-informed therapy and wellness practice focused on providing a holistic approach to healing. We offer specialized mental health services for PTSD and other trauma disorders, along with trauma-informed care for communities exposed to high levels of chronic stress and shame. We’re passionate about and committed to helping our clients achieve optimal wellness in a safe, inclusive, and compassionate environment. Our team believes that the body has the ability to heal and that growth occurs while exploring the root causes of issues – not just treating symptoms.

Highlighted Specialties

Relationships + Sexual Wellness

Trauma can have a dramatic impact on relationships and sexual wellness. We hold space for all human sexuality, including polyamory, BDSM / kink, gender non-conformity, and transgender people.

LGBTQIA+

LGBTQIA+ individuals often experience shame, fear, isolation, and trauma. Therapy with an allied and compassionate clinician can offer healing, empowerment, self-discovery, and community.

Domestic + Family Violence

Individuals and families who have experienced relationship abuse need a safe space to feel heard, validated and connected to resources and support.

Veterans + Combat-Related Trauma

Service members are exposed to traumatic events during war. This may include involvement or exposure to life-threatening situations, or stress that comes from long periods of time away from home.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting works by identifying, processing and releasing sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms.

EMDR Intensives

EMDR Intensives are one of the quickest and most effective ways to reduce or eliminate “stuck points”. Clients can often process information and heal quicker.

Diabetes

People with diabetes often experience shame, isolation, and medical trauma. This can lead to struggles with self-image, depression, disordered eating/eating disorders, food fears, and health anxiety.

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga

Our trauma-sensitive yoga classes support and prepare the body for healing trauma, while building self-confidence, self-awareness and personal growth.

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient practice known for its subtle and effective energy healing. It’s been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and improve sleep quality, relaxation and general well-being.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP)

SP includes the body in therapy as both a source of information and target for intervention. It helps clients who struggle with feeling disconnected, numb and shut down from their emotions.

What is a trauma-informed approach?

A trauma-informed treatment approach strives to understand individuals as a whole. It assumes that people are more likely to have a history of trauma than not. When trauma occurs, it affects a person’s sense of self, their sense of others, and their beliefs about the world. Trauma-informed care shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” It offers the opportunity for our clients to engage more fully in their healing processes, develop a trusting relationship with their providers, and improve long-term health outcomes. Our team adopts this approach by obtaining a complete picture of our clients’ life situations – past and present – in order to provide effective care with a healing orientation. Our goal is always sustainable wellness.
