DBT for Trauma Group

combining principles of DBT with skills and education about trauma

About this Group

This virtual group combines principles and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with psychoeducation about the neuroscience of trauma. Traditional DBT Skills Group modules of Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness are followed, though an emphasis is placed on supporting and understanding coping skills through the trauma brain. The group is designed to help clients learn coping skills while also moving toward an understanding that intrusive thoughts, suppressed or intensified emotional responses, and defense mechanisms all develop as part of a journey of survival.
