Meet Christina

MSW, WELL AP | Practice Coordinator | (she/her/hers)

Lisa van Leeuwen

Hello!

Christina received her Master of Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2024 with a concentration in behavioral health and a specialization in trauma. Christina worked behind the scenes at Sustainable Wellness coordinating insurance and billing for clients, and more recently, has transitioned into the role of Practice Coordinator. Today, she assists both staff and clients in ensuring a smooth process for care at Sustainable Wellness. She also works on marketing and various other administrative duties and operations for the practice. She also offers diabetes coaching services, and enjoys working with clients from all walks of life with diabetes, empowering them toward reaching their goals.

Social work is a career change for Christina. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Drexel University in 2015, and worked as a planner and designer for healthcare facilities. While she was impacting people’s experience through the physical environment, she realized there were limitations to not addressing people’s experience from a more holistic framework. She shifted into social work as a way to help create more direct change with the people she works with. Christina has future plans of providing mental health services to those navigating chronic illness and/or various forms of trauma. Topics that interest her include chronic illness, diabetes, burnout, self-care, attachment trauma, and religious/spiritual trauma.

In her free time, Christina writes about living with a chronic illness through her blog where she advocates for mental health and diabetes awareness. She also works with Sara Adams at Reframe Diabetes, providing educational resources to those navigating mental health challenges related to diabetes. When she’s not working or writing, you can find Christina exploring local coffee shop, spending time in the mountains, spending time with her lab, reading books, listening to podcasts, and loving rainy days. Likely all at once. If you need a podcast or book recommendation, she’s got you!
