Sustainable Wellness offers various types of groups, including skills groups, support groups, and process groups. Each session typically lasts about 60-90 minutes and most groups meet weekly. We currently have both virtual and in-person groups available.

Process Groups

Process groups encourage participants to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and collaborate to address and "process" a particular issue.

Skills Groups

Skills groups are typically more structured than processing groups and have more of a workshop or class-like format than a typical counseling format. In skills groups, participants learn a particular skill and are encouraged to apply learned concepts to their everyday lives. Our skills groups are typically module-based closed groups, meaning they run for a specific period of time (ie. 8 weeks).

Support Groups

Support groups allow participants who share a common problem or struggle area to come together to provide help, comfort, and guidance to one another. This happens under the guidance of a licensed therapist. Like our skills groups, support groups often last for only a limited predetermined number of sessions and may sometimes be combined with another type of group (for example, a processing and support group).

Closed Groups

Some of our groups are considered "closed" groups, which means we enroll a specific number of participants who are asked to attend all scheduled sessions

Rolling Groups

Rolling groups typically have an open admissions policy, meaning new clients can join the group as long as there is space. Because of the trauma-informed nature of our practice, we are always mindful about the way new participants join an existing group. In these cases, the group facilitator always discusses this with the current group first, and new clients are asked to join for a minimum of 4 sessions. While participants are expected to join each session, rolling groups often continue to "roll" and do not have specific end dates.
