Diabetes Coaching
Approximate length of each session:
1 hour
People living with diabetes often experience shame, isolation, and medical trauma. This can lead to
struggles with self-image, depression, disordered eating/eating disorders, food fears, and health
anxiety. A diabetes-informed coach can help people move away from perfectionism, comparison, and shame toward a place of resilience, acceptance, and authenticity.
Two of our staff members live with type 1 / autoimmune diabetes, so diabetes mental health is a huge passion area for us! Our team has also been integral in the creating and facilitation of the annual Diabetes + Mental Health Conference. We are proud to offer coaching services focused on the mental health components of life with diabetes.
While our coaching clients come to us for a variety of reasons, below are some common struggles for people living with diabetes:
Body image issues
Burnout
Disordered eating
Food fears
Health anxiety
Isolation
Low self esteem
Medical trauma
Stress and anxiety
It's important to understand that coaching is not therapy or a substitute for therapy. Coaching does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease; it also does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association. Should you find yourself in need of therapy instead of or in addition to diabetes coaching, please discuss this with a member of our intake team.
